who is she, really?
Sylvie Schuetz is a theatre-maker based in Philadelphia, with roots in South Orange, New Jersey. She has a brand new B.F.A. in Contemporary Theater from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and a wild way of making up stories. (She believes in them entirely). Her work as an actor and creator delights in darkness and darkens delight. She is obsessed with the tiny, tender, and the invisible.

The Decay Project
A workshop investigating the process of decay through devised dance-theatre. Derived from poems inspired by science, I worked with actors, dancers, and musicians to create the first two pieces in this four-piece cycle. We went from worlds interpreted somatically, to movement, to movement, to music, and back around again.

Piggy Wants to Fly
Piggy Wants to Fly is a whimsical and tender two-hander about the meeting of a man and a pigeon. This play reveals the quiet, profound history between humans and those grayish, blueish, greenish birds that cover our city streets. What wonder is there in all we take for granted? This play was devised from scientific research, composition prompts, improvisation and verbatim text.
